The Bookstore in 20 Years

The Bookstore in 20 Years

Last Sunday, my mom took me to the bookstore to buy my favorite fairy tale books. When we got there, I could always smell a faint, pleasant scent of books that really helped me calm down. That night, I had a long dream in which I suddenly found myself in the bookstore twenty years from now.
The Bookstore in 20 Years
In the dream, I arrived at the bookstore twenty years into the future! It was huge; I couldn’t see the end of it. The entire store was white, which gave me a very soothing feeling. I looked at the bookshelves beside me; the books were neatly arranged, and each one had its own category—stories, fairy tales, and so much more. I walked to a corner of the bookstore and discovered a special area called the “Custom Book Corner.” As soon as I entered, a robot came over and said, “Hello! Welcome to our Custom Book Corner. Here, you can create your own books. Just design the cover on this tablet, and we’ll turn your idea into a real book for you! Not only that, but you can also write your own short stories here, and we’ll automatically turn them into books!” Half-believing, I picked up a pen and drew a little sheep. To my surprise, the cover of the book actually turned into a cute sheep playing happily on the grass. In the end, I couldn’t resist it and bought a customized book, drawing a particularly lovely flower on it.
When I came out of the Custom Book Corner, I realized that the people walking down the hallway were robots, all neatly arranged. If we sat on a chair, a small button would pop up. By pressing it, a robot would come over; then, if we selected a book we wanted to read, the robot would quickly bring it to our table. If we were hungry, pressing another button would bring us a menu. It was all very convenient. We approached the audio-visual desk, which had a built-in tablet. After logging in, we could read electronic books on it, and we could pick up where we left off the next time we logged in.
Just then, a “ding ding ding” sound pulled me back to reality—it turned out it was all just a dream!
If the world in twenty years really looks like this, I would be incredibly happy.
