The little dog tries to imitate the crowing of a rooster.

There was a little dog on the farm, which the little owner had found. When it was first picked up, it was all dirty, but the little owner gave it a bath, and immediately it became clean again, just like it had been freshly brought home. The little owner loved it very much, but no one knew that this dog couldn’t bark.

One evening, the dog heard the rooster crowing “ooh ooh ooh” and thought it was fun, so it tried to imitate it: “ooh ooh ooh!” The other roosters around heard it and thought it was dawn, so they all started crowing too. The little owner was sound asleep when the crowing woke him up; he rubbed his eyes and muttered, “How can it be already morning?” When he went outside, he saw his dog crowing with the roosters, which made him so angry that he gently tapped the dog’s bottom, causing the dog to cry out in pain.
Another night, the little owner heard the crowing again and thought the dog was making trouble again. He grabbed a thin stick from the corner and headed outside to scold it. Just as he reached the door, he heard knocking at the door: “Dong dong dong.” His heart tightened with fear; “Something’s wrong, maybe there’s a thief!”
Then the door creaked open, and a shadow slipped in. The little owner raised the stick and struck, and the shadow cried out in pain—it turned out to be a thief! The dog was so scared that it hid to one side and pleaded softly, “Don’t hit me.” The little owner smiled, stroked its head, and said, “I won’t hit you; I’ll even give you some bones!”
The next day, the little owner really bought some bones for the dog. As the dog gnawed on the bones, it wondered, “Why did I get beaten for imitating the rooster’s crowing last time, but now I get bones to eat?” The cat nearby heard this and wagged its tail, saying, “Silly dog, you have to be careful when imitating a rooster’s crowing; you can’t just crow randomly!”
