While I was immersed in the joy of celebrating my primary school graduation, I received an admission notice from the junior high school I had always dreamed of attending. This school is a well-known institution in our area that I’ve longed for. I was so excited that without hesitation, I picked up my backpack, scanned a QR code to rent a shared bicycle at the entrance, and used the Gaode app on my phone for navigation, heading straight for my new junior high school.
It only took about seven or eight minutes for me to arrive at my destination. On the east side of the school gate, there was a large rectangular piece of black marble with two lines of white script engraved on it. The first line read: “Qingpu District, Shanghai,” and the second line said: “Affiliated Middle School of the Teachers’ Training College.” To the west of the gate were the school security guard and the mail room, along with a large electronic screen.
Through the closed steel gate, I could see the spacious playground, the brand-new teaching buildings, and the faint outlines of the classrooms. A sense of pride welled up in me, and I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Look! This is my campus tomorrow; it’s so beautiful!”
I put down my backpack on a bench to the east of the school gate, then took off my sun hat and fanned myself to calm down my excitement. Looking inside through the gate, I was suddenly reminded of a poem by Li Bai: “I cannot see the true face of Lushan Mountain; it’s only because I am within its embrace.” It felt like I couldn’t see the true face of the school until I stood right at its entrance.
My desire to explore the campus and see it all for myself was truly tumultuous…
Suddenly, an idea came to me. I chuckled to myself and said, “Xiheng, you’re so silly… No! Xiheng, you’re so smart.” I looked up, swept my sweaty hair back behind my neck with both hands, then opened the tablet in my backpack and launched the Beidou Navigation app. After entering the school’s name, I couldn’t help but shout, “Search started!”
Immediately, a red dot appeared on the screen and began to expand rapidly—just like a parachuter leaving the aircraft and soaring through the blue sky, or a wild horse galloping across the green grasslands. In no time, that red dot turned into the image of a beautiful school. To the north of the campus were two white buildings shaped like mushrooms, one larger than the other; to the southeast was an F-shaped six-story teaching building. On the west side was a vast playground with blue edges and a green center. Unfortunately, there were no trees or flower beds visible from the outside.
Look! This is my future campus, as seen from above.
I thought to myself: My new dreams and plans for life will begin to take shape here, and the wings that will carry me through the skies will be honed from this very place.
