The cat in my house

I have a tabby cat at home named Toret, and it’s a very lovable little member of our family. Every time I come home from school and push the door open, it always emerges from under the sofa, walks over to me with its tiny steps, rubs its head against my legs, and makes a soft “meow” as if to welcome me. I really love it.

Toret looks incredibly cute; its whole body is covered in fluffy short fur that feels so soft to the touch. In winter, holding it in my arms is like having a little heater with me. It has big, round brown eyes that shine brightly. Whenever I use a toy to tease it, its eyes follow the movement of the toy, turning from side to side with great interest. Its nose is small and pink; occasionally, it will come up close to my hand to sniff around, with the tip of its nose trembling slightly. The fur around its mouth is black, as if it has accidentally gotten some ink on it, matching the color of its paws. As a tabby cat, its tail is long and thin; when it’s happy, it wags it, and sometimes the tip of its tail curls up like a little hook.
Toret is very gentle and never scratches the sofas in our house. When I’m doing my homework, it lies quietly on a cushion at the corner of the desk, either curled up to sleep or watching me write with its eyes fixed on my pen. Occasionally, it will gently poke at my eraser with its little paw, as if wanting to play with me. If I ignore it, it doesn’t make a fuss and just licks its paws by itself. Once I finish my homework and call its name, it immediately jumps onto the desk and rubs its head against my hand. When I reach out to touch its back, it makes a “rurrring” sound, with its throat vibrating softly—a really comforting noise that sounds like it’s being affectionate towards me.
There’s one thing I remember very clearly: One night, when everyone in the house was fast asleep, I felt something soft step on my leg. When I opened my eyes, I saw Toret had quietly jumped onto my bed. I was half-awake and could hear its gentle breathing; it slowly moved to the side of my head and curled up into a little ball. The next morning, when I woke up, it was still lying beside me, with its eyes closed and its tail moving slightly from time to time. It still does this sometimes—whenever I don’t lock the door at night, it will sneak onto my bed to sleep with me.
Toret has brought so much joy into my life. Whether I’m happily sharing snacks with it or simply cuddling with it when I’m feeling sad, it’s always there to keep me company quietly. With it around, every day becomes more interesting; it’s just like a good friend to me.
