I have a lovely little pet at home. It’s neither a cat nor a dog, but a “pasta mouse.” I named it “Fenfen.” It’s so tiny that you’d be afraid of breaking it just by holding it in the palm of your hand; it’s absolutely adorable.
Fenfen looks a bit like a little mouse, but it’s quite different from ordinary mice. Its fur is brown, but the part under its belly is a mix of pink and white, and it feels really soft to the touch. Mom told me that when it was first born, it was only as big as my thumb, with a tiny tail that was only 1 to 3 centimeters long, just like a little pink worm. Now that it’s grown up, it’s about the size of a cup, and from the tip of its nose to the end of its tail, it’s 6 to 8 centimeters long. Its eyes are round and black and white, and they shine brightly when it looks at things. Its ears are small and semi-circular, sticking right to its head, which makes it even cuter.
Fenfen is very active. Most of the day, it runs in a running wheel. When it gets tired from running, it curls up in its little nest to take a nap, and then it wakes up and keeps running again. Some other animals are picky about their food, but Fenfen isn’t at all. It eats whatever is given to it—green vegetable leaves, small pieces of meat, nut kernels, and warm milk—and it never throws a tantrum. Its little wooden house is its playground; it runs around there all day long, and sometimes it even uses its little paws to dig around with the wood shavings.
After I finish my homework, I play with Fenfen for a while. I gently stroke its little belly, and it rolls around along with the motion of my hand. Its little paws also gently tickle my hand, as if to say, “Little master, stop scratching me! It really itches!” When I feed it, it stands up, uses its two front paws to hold the food, and starts to nibble on it delicately. Sometimes I deliberately shake the food above its head, and it tips its toes, turning its little head as if it’s doing a trick. As soon as I put the food down, it quickly picks it up and runs away, as if afraid that someone else will take it away.
With Fenfen by my side, my life is full of so much joy. She’s really my best little animal friend.
