The Unforgettable Charity Sale

The Unforgettable Charity Sale

The sun shone on the square, and the colorful flags fluttered in the wind. The sounds of vendors calling out, people laughing, and music mixed together, creating a lively atmosphere as if it were a festival. This was my first time participating in a charity sale, and I felt both excited and nervous.
The Unforgettable Charity Sale
The playground was filled with stalls of all kinds of colors. Some sold handmade crafts, others sold stationery and books, and there were also stalls that emanated a delicious smell—turns out they were selling grilled sausages and spicy snacks to attract customers. My good friend, Xiaolong, jumped up to me with bright eyes and said, “There must be lots of yummy things at this charity sale; I’m going to try all the food!” I teased him, “Can you apply that same enthusiasm to your studies?” He slapped his head and replied, “You bookworm, I don’t want to talk to you anymore. Bye!” Then he ran off.
I wandered around and picked out a few storybooks. I asked a classmate, “How much are these books?” He smiled and said, “I’ll sell them to you for 20 yuan.” “That’s too expensive,” I said. “How about 15 yuan?” After thinking for a moment, he clapped his hands and agreed, “Deal!” I took out 15 yuan, feeling very pleased that I had just enough money and could even spare some to buy something else.
Just then, Xiaolong came running over with several grilled sausages and spicy snacks, handed me one, and mumbled, “The teacher told us to go back to the classroom to sell our stuff!” That’s when I remembered that I was one of the vendors for our class’s charity sale!
When I returned to our class’s stall, the monitor was calling out loudly, his voice as resonant as thunder. I gathered my courage, picked up a book, and stood in front of the stall, shouting, “Stop by! Don’t miss out!” But due to my nervousness, I said the wrong thing and shouted, “Don’t come over!” Everyone burst into laughter. A classmate laughed and said, “Because of that, I’m going to buy this book!” Surprisingly, my shout actually attracted quite a few people, and we quickly sold several books.
When the last book was bought, I felt a great sense of accomplishment. It turns out that helping others can be so rewarding. This charity sale made me realize that kindness can be found in an old book as well as in a simple call out to sell something. I really hope to participate in more events like this in the future!
