As soon as I got home from school and saw the mountain of homework on my desk, I couldn’t help but sigh. Looking up, I spotted our lazy cat basking in the sun, looking so content and carefree. How I envied its无忧 life! If only I could turn into a cat too… Just as that thought crossed my mind, a flash of white light suddenly appeared before my eyes…
When I opened my eyes again, oh my! My body was covered in soft fur! I hurried to the mirror and saw a pair of pointed ears, four short legs, and a long tail swaying back and forth… Oh my God, I had really become our little cat, “Tangyuan”!
Haha, no more school or homework—it was time for freedom! I cheered with a meow and started jumping around the house, bumping into everything. But then, my mom grabbed me by the neck and took me to the balcony, giving me a boiled egg and a spoonful of cat food. I ate it happily, but as I chewed, I realized that the food wasn’t delicious at all: dry, hard, and had a strange smell, almost like eating a bunch of stinky pebbles!
What made things even worse was that playing with my family became difficult too. I went to my brother’s room, blinked at him, and wagged my tail like a rattle, hoping he would play with me. But what did he do? Thinking I was up to no good, he just said, “Tangyuan, I’m busy! Go find Mom and Dad, okay?” And then he sent me out the door. I tried to get close to my mom, but she was too busy cleaning to pay attention to me. My dad was the same; everyone was busy with their own things.
Sighing, I just lay by the window, staring at the dark blue night sky and counting the stars.
The next morning, my parents and brother left, leaving me alone at home. I wandered around the empty house, and from noon on, I lay by the door, listening for any sounds outside. Finally, at two in the afternoon, I heard the familiar meow—it was “Tangyuan” from the neighborhood! It kept calling out, and I scratched at the door desperately, but I couldn’t get out, just circling around it. At that moment, I understood how lonely “Tangyuan” must have felt day after day, year after year. Feeling a lump in my throat, I lay on the sofa and started crying softly.
As I cried, I suddenly felt lighter… Another flash of white light, and before I knew it, I was back in my familiar classroom, listening to the teacher’s lecture. But this time, I understood something more: every life has a side that people don’t know about.
Since then, I never complained about having too much homework again, and I never ignored “Tangyuan’s” loneliness. Because I knew that understanding begins with truly seeing things as they are.
