Our PE teacher’s surname is Wang, and everyone calls him “The Fitness Maniac.” His skin is as dark as coal, and his limbs are strong and sturdy like pillars, with well-defined muscles all over his body. Although he wears black-rimmed glasses and looks like a quiet scholar, don’t be fooled by his appearance—when he gets angry, he’s just like a fierce “tiger.”
This “tiger” is actually quite humorous. Once during a PE class, I was secretly eating my fingernails behind my desk when Mr. Wang caught me. He deliberately shouted, “Someone in our class is eating ‘invisible fries’! It sounds so delicious!” We all looked in the direction he pointed, and we burst into laughter. The person behind me turned red with embarrassment and quickly hid their hand behind their back; ever since, they never ate their fingernails again.
But while he does like to joke around, anyone who crosses his lines will regret it. During a line-up, Xiao Gang kept standing unsteadily. Mr. Wang suddenly raised his voice, and his “death roar” was so loud that it almost hurt my ears: “If you don’t stand properly, I’ll take you to the corner of the playground and make you stand there as punishment!” Xiao Gang shivered with fear and immediately stood up straight. He probably thought Mr. Wang was just joking, but then Mr. Wang reached out, picked him up like a little chick, and Xiao Gang started begging for mercy.
However, Mr. Wang can also be very caring. Last week during a running exercise, Xiaoming accidentally fell and held his chest in pain. Mr. Wang immediately ran over, knelt down, and asked, “Where does it hurt? Can you stand up?” Xiaoming shook his head, saying his chest felt tight. Mr. Wang helped him up, gently rubbed his back, and then walked with him for a few steps. Soon, Xiaoming said the pain was gone, and we all thought to ourselves, “Mr. Wang is really a ‘miraculous doctor’!”
Mr. Wang also has two noticeable habits. He loves smoking very much; once he starts, he can’t stop, looking just like a big chimney. You’ll see him squinting his eyes, looking up at the sky, with smoke circling from his mouth. The area around him becomes hazy, and he doesn’t even hear us calling out to him. He also runs extremely fast. Last time, Xiao Fei, our fastest runner, tried to compete with him, but it was like a real-life version of the Tortoise and Hare race—Mr. Wang took big steps with his arms swinging quickly and steadily, and no matter how hard Xiao Fei tried, he couldn’t catch up. In the end, Mr. Wang crossed the finish line first, leaving us all in awe.
Although Mr. Wang can be a bit strict sometimes, his classes are always fun and lively. We all really like this “strict yet caring” “comical teacher.”
