During the special class this Wednesday, Teacher Li suddenly asked, “Who would like to be the temporary class president and help me organize the notebooks?”
As soon as the students heard this, they all raised their hands simultaneously, and the classroom was filled with cries of “I’ll do it! I’ll do it!” I also felt excited, but at the same time a bit scared. I raised my hand halfway, then quickly pulled it back down. Teacher Li just happened to see me and said with a smile, “You, little boy, be the class president!”
My heart skipped a beat—both surprised and delighted: The lucky person chosen was actually me! I was so happy!
Then I got busy. The first step was to organize the notebooks. Teacher Li explained that the first group should be placed upright, while the second group should be placed upside down, so that it would be easy to see if there were any discrepancies at a glance. I squatted on the ground and arranged each notebook neatly, making sure not to put them in the wrong place. Then I had to check the names and classes; I was very careful, and indeed, I found a student who had only written their name but not the class. I quickly ran over and asked them to add the class information.
After organizing all the notebooks, it was time to take them to Teacher Li’s office. But I had no idea where the office was, so I stood in the hallway, running around in circles from anxiety. I happened to meet Peng Bo; his mother is a teacher at the school, so I quickly grabbed him and asked, “Peng Bo, where is Teacher Li’s office?” He pointed to a room not far away and said, “It’s right there!” I hurried over with the notebooks, gently knocked on the door, and placed them inside.
By the time I ran back to the classroom, my forehead was covered in sweat, and a small part of my shirt was wet from sweating. It turned out that being the class president wasn’t easy at all; there were so many things to take care of!
That evening, when I got home, I immediately told my mom about it. She smiled and praised me, saying, “You did great! Next time, be a bit bolder. If you dare to try, you’ll have more opportunities.” I nodded firmly and said, “Yes! Next time, I will be even braver!”
