“Go stand at the back! You, go stand in the front!” Without even opening my eyes, I could tell which little “chatterboxes” had been caught in the act by Mr. Wang, the math teacher known for his “deadly stare.” They were chatting away during class and couldn’t answer the questions, so naturally, they got punished by having to stand as punishment. This Mr. Wang is the same one I occasionally meet at the gym when playing badminton. He’s quite tall, not thin, and has a pair of particularly strong hands; he also has a bit of humor in his speech. But don’t underestimate him—his “strictness” is truly effective!
The first trick: The “Mysterious Attack.” My deskmate was really brave to read a comic book during Mr. Wang’s class. The content of the book was so fascinating that I couldn’t help but join in and read along. Suddenly, a big hand snatched the book away from me, and my heart skipped a beat: Oh no, the teacher caught us! Sure enough, Mr. Wang called on both of us to answer a question. I quickly answered correctly, but my deskmate stammered and couldn’t say anything. Mr. Wang isn’t gentle when it comes to punishment; he slapped the back of my deskmate’s hand a few times, which made him wince in pain. I was secretly relieved: Fortunately, I got the answer right; otherwise, his hand would have suffered too!
The second trick: The “Deadly Stare.” The day after my deskmate got his comic book back, he generously lent it to me. I became so engrossed that I completely forgot we were still in Mr. Wang’s class. Suddenly, I sensed something wasn’t right; I looked up and saw—oh no! Mr. Wang was staring at me with that “killer stare,” his eyes radiating a cold glint. He opened his mouth, then closed it again. I panicked and sat up straight, focusing on the blackboard and listening to the lesson attentively, just barely avoiding another punishment.
This is my Mr. Wang, our comic book teacher. Although he’s strict, we all know that it’s all for our own good!
