My “comic” teacher’s last name is Zhang, and we all call him Teacher Zhang. The most noticeable thing about him is his muscular body; it takes years of training to achieve that, he says. When he uses his arms, you can see the bulging muscles clearly—very different from our soft, flabby bodies.
Teacher Zhang loves fitness very much and goes to the gym every week. Once, he told us that lifting dumbbells helps build arm strength and even demonstrated how much weight he could lift, saying, “I can do 30 repetitions in just 10 seconds!” We all widened our eyes in amazement, thinking he was even more powerful than the superheroes in cartoons. He also plays badminton with great enthusiasm; after class, he often invites us to play with him, and his shots are fast and accurate; no one can easily catch them.
He’s also a “writing enthusiast,” always writing essays and novels. Sometimes he stays up all night to finish his work on time. Because of this, although his eyes are big, they often have red circles around them, giving him a look like a rabbit’s. His nose is hooked, and we jokingly wonder if it could help him hold the pen and keep writing non-stop. His ears are small but very sensitive; he can hear even the slightest whisper from below.
Teacher Zhang’s classes are absolutely fun and never boring. He likes to tell little stories while teaching, sometimes about famous people’s embarrassing moments when they were young, and sometimes about his own funny experiences with training—like the first time he tried to lift a dumbbell but lost his balance and almost fell down. We always laugh uncontrollably. Despite being strong, he’s not fierce at all; he’s very kind to us.
That’s my Teacher Zhang—strong, serious, and yet so much fun in class. I really love his lessons the most!
