In our class, we have a “comical” teacher, and that’s our art teacher, Mr. Ma! Just his “iconic outfit” is enough to make everyone in the class remember him. With a chubby face, he wears a pair of black-rimmed glasses with perfectly clean lenses. Mr. Ma always carries a lens cloth with him; he wipes them whenever he moves—whether it’s during class or while walking—and his glasses are never foggy. But what really makes him stand out are his two special skills: “Instant Teleportation” and the “Deadly Stare.”
Mr. Ma is also a true “phone addict.” During one class, my deskmate wasn’t drawing on the table but was doing homework instead. He whispered to me with a smug smile, “Hey, you know what? Mr. Ma definitely won’t notice me today.” I looked in his direction and saw him sitting on a small chair, holding his phone, humming a song softly, and staring intently at the screen, just like the old man who sits at the entrance of our neighborhood, listening to the radio every day. Just as my deskmate was focused on his homework, Mr. Ma noticed him and immediately used his “Instant Teleportation” skill—he quickly moved around behind him in two steps instead of three. When I saw Mr. Ma, I was about to tap my deskmate, but he made a gesture for me to be quiet, so I stopped. Then Mr. Ma said softly from behind him, “Aren’t you drawing?” My deskmate kept muttering, “It’s okay, the teacher won’t see us.” But as soon as he turned around and saw Mr. Ma, he was completely stunned. Later, my deskmate got a “punishment” in the form of having to stand for the whole class.
However, Mr. Ma’s paintings are absolutely beautiful. Once, when we went to the art studio with him, as soon as we entered, we saw a landscape painting that was even taller than Mr. Ma himself. The details of the trees and people in the painting were so intricate that everyone was amazed. Many of us went over to take a closer look. Mr. Ma looked at us with confidence, showing us another side of him—he has beautiful handwriting and an amazing talent for painting.
That’s my “comical” teacher, Mr. Ma. Although he can be a bit grumpy, his beautiful handwriting and paintings make the art class much less boring for me.
