“A Dream by the Star Sea”

“A Dream by the Star Sea”

It was late at night. I lay in bed, looking at the stars outside the window, and suddenly a strange thought crossed my mind: What would it feel like if I turned into a planet? As I was pondering this, a wave of drowsiness overcame me, and I slowly closed my eyes…

When I opened my eyes again, I had become a living, thinking planet. I was extremely surprised, but I quickly adapted to this new form of existence. I had no mouth, so I couldn’t speak, but I could “see,” I could “think,” and I could sense the silence and mystery of the universe.
It was my first time seeing the starry sky, and the breathtaking beauty left me in awe. The stars were like diamonds scattered on a black velvet, shining with a distant and mysterious glow. I floated through the cosmos, listening to electromagnetic waves passing through the darkness like songs, telling the stories of humanity.
On my surface, there lived creatures called “humans.” They were intelligent and curious, yet they often fought with each other. I watched as a country went through turmoil; people shouted slogans, tore up books, and hurt one another. They called that period the “Cultural Revolution.” I didn’t understand why they were so angry or why they kept harming each other.
One day, someone sent out electromagnetic waves into the universe, including my coordinates and life information, in hopes of attracting an alien civilization to help them with their technology. However, not long after, I saw a small asteroid collide with a neighboring star. The asteroid didn’t react at all; it simply shattered and disappeared into the darkness.
A few days later, the entire galaxy seemed to be swallowed by a huge sheet of paper, turning into a two-dimensional, lifeless image. At that moment, I felt an unprecedented sense of fear.
I woke up suddenly, covered in cold sweat. It turned out it was just a dream. But from then on, whenever I heard someone praising the greatness of humanity, I would quietly say, “Sometimes, ignorance can be a form of fortune.” That dream taught me that the world is not always peaceful and beautiful, and all we can do is cherish the peace we have and protect each other’s kindness.
