Grandma’s little vegetable garden

Grandma’s little vegetable garden

There’s a magical “treasure box” at my grandma’s house, and that’s her little vegetable garden – a great place I’d like to recommend to everyone.

The spring here is absolutely beautiful. As soon as spring arrives, the air is filled with the fragrance of peach blossoms. There are over a dozen peach trees in the garden, each laden with pink flowers. Just smelling that scent makes me feel relaxed. Beside the garden, there’s a clear little stream where cute little fish swim around, and the willow trees by the stream swish their long branches in the breeze.
Autumn brings its own excitement. Birds fly in, and earthworms crawl through the ground. The garden is filled with all sorts of vegetables: lush lettuce with layers of leaves that still glisten with morning dew, making them look incredibly fresh. There are also tomatoes of various colors – some bright red and others a lovely yellow, hanging from the branches like little colored lanterns. Slender, long loofahs grow under trellises that my grandma built; the vines climb freely, their leaves overlapping like tiny hands. The loofahs grow longer on the trellises, with tiny yellow flowers blooming at their bases. There are also round cabbages, red peppers, and long cucumbers…
It’s also a lot of fun to play hide-and-seek here with my sister. Before we start, I always wipe the mud from under the loofah trellises to erase our footprints. The areas with dense leaves are the best places to hide. I shrink down and press myself against the trellis, my heart pounding with excitement, yet I can’t help but smile. My sister always searches along the paths, and when her footsteps approach from the tomato patch, I hold my breath, afraid she’ll find me. Once, she almost caught me – but she got distracted by a yellow loofah flower on a branch. When she reached out to touch it, I couldn’t help but laugh, and that’s how I lost the game! Oh, it was all my laughter that caused that!
This is my favorite place because it’s not only beautiful and lively but also full of fun.
