That evening, I lay in bed, looking at the sunset outside the window, and thought to myself, “Life is so monotonous—either going to class or doing homework. It would be so wonderful if I could turn into a free little bird and explore the world out there!” With that thought in mind, I gradually fell asleep…
It was amazing; to my surprise, I found myself actually turned into a little bird. My feet had turned into sharp claws, my soft fur into golden feathers, and my hands into light wings. I widened my eyes, my heart pounding with excitement: “Could it be that my imagination has come true?”
“Yes,” a voice replied to me.
I tried to flap my wings, and indeed, I flew into the sky! I shouted in delight, “This is amazing! I can finally fly freely!”
I flew on and on, passing over green mountains and clear waters, seeing the rippling waves of West Lake, the steep cliffs of Mount Hua, and the ancient pavilions and terraces of the Summer Palace. At noon, my stomach started to growl. I flew into a forest and found a small piece of delicious food on the ground. However, there was a scary bird net nearby. My sense of reason told me not to go near it, but I was so hungry that I bit down on my tooth and rushed over. After eating, just as I was about to leave that dangerous place, I got caught in the net! I cried out in panic, and a hunter came over. He looked at me and said, “What a beautiful bird you are; I really don’t want to catch you, but… well, I’ll let you go.”
As he spoke, he gently untied the net and set me free. I soared into the sky, feeling both moved and thrilled.
I flew to my old school, which happened to be at the end of the day. I landed on a branch, and the younger students saw me and exclaimed, “Wow, what a beautiful little bird!” The older students took out their paints and carefully drew my appearance. I flapped my wings proudly, feeling incredibly happy.
In the evening, I slowly flew back home and perched on the branch by the window, looking at my familiar room, filled with mixed feelings. This wonderful experience taught me an important lesson: every life has its own wonders and challenges, and only by experiencing them firsthand can one truly understand their meaning…
Suddenly, I woke up from my dream…
